Twenty seven weeks.

  • How Far Along:  27 weeks
  • Size of baby:  15 inches long. A little over two pounds.  His noggin is pictured above.
  • What the Wee Ski 2.0 has right now:  He's sleeping and waking at regular intervals, opening and closing his eyes, and perhaps even sucking his fingers. With more brain tissue developing, the Wee Ski 2.0's brain is very active now. While his lungs are still immature, they would be capable of functioning — with a lot of medical help — if he were to be born now. (thanks, Babycenter, for the deets!)
  • Total Weight Gain/Loss:  lost 1 pound
  • Maternity Clothes:  Some awesome comfy maternity t-shirts from Old Navy.  Lots of vests, and most of my Lucy pants fit well since they are stretchy.
  • Gender:  He's a boy!
  • Movement:  For a month or so now. Very active at night and when I'm at the computer.  That could be because whenever I'm in my office, the Wee Ski 1.0 is sleeping, and therefore not climbing all over me.  So any less movement by 1.0 means 2.0 is felt more.  :)
  • Sleep:  I am still pretty exhausted. The past week I've been in bed by 8 each night, most often sound asleep by 8:15 or so.
  • What I miss:  Nothing. I still can't believe that we are actually pregnant after a year. I am grateful every. single. day.
  • Cravings:  I craved comfort food in a big way last night, so I whipped up some homemade chicken strips (baked) with fresh honey mustard.  Garlic fries + honey-citrus glazed carrots.  Tasty delicious, and all within my blood sugar limits.
  • Symptoms:   Feeling a bit more roly-poly.  I get tired while carrying 1.0 and 2.0 at the same time...like through the tree fields yesterday when 1.0 decided he was done hiking in the fields.  By the end, he was thrown over my shoulder and I was holding onto the dog to stay upright.  We really need a gator on the farm!!  :)
  • Best moment this week: Finding out that my doc (Dr. McMahon) now has privileges at Tacoma General...so we are hoping this is all-systems-go toward a VBAC!  And TG is with Mary Bridge, so -- just in case -- we have a delivery like we did with Thomas, we will be in the best spot possible for NICU care.  And it's also where I was born.  And for that matter, where Jonathan was at for a month just after he was born.  Lots of good history there.  (And by the way, I have loved Dr. McMahon since our first appointment -- when she actually knew of the rare heart-lung defect that Jonathan's dad had, and was telling me all about the advances that have been made since Larry was living.  She was also stunned to find out he lived into his fifties, as most babies don't make it beyond children.) We are praying that our son will find his way into labor on his own -- reducing the chances of a c-section and increasing the chances of a successful VBAC.  Please keep us in your prayers!
