Answering the Call

The Eugene Register-Guard published an awesome story about Fr. David Jaspers, a treasured friend of mine. :)

I've mentioned him on the blog before - most recently earlier this year when he was ordained to the priesthood for the Archdiocese of Portland.

The story highlights his journey from a Catholic high school, to playing football at Pacific Lutheran University, then onto seminary at Mt. Angel, studying in Spain, volunteering in Peru, and finally serving as a priest, with a special gift to the Catholic hispanic community.

He is an incredible man of God.

(And to give some balance...here's a photo from my archives. Fr. David, then seminarian David, started a snowball fight in Italy, near Montecassino in 2003. It was vicious and awesome at the same time.)
