Scenes from January 2007, when Mom and I headed back to Iowa together...and I love the pic above, of Mom holding onto to Grandpa's hands.
When I re-read yesterday's post, after yesterday happened...I could see God's hand in it in such a significant way.
This week, my grandma called hospice for my grandpa. They were scheduled for their first visit yesterday. And what a blessing. It is time.
Many of you have been praying for his health as he's recovered from the ICU last month (here and here). You have no idea how much that means to me and my family...thank you.
In hindsight, I am so incredibly grateful for the time that I was able to spend back there last month...especially since after this week, my travel will be really limited because of the pregnancy.
So the prayer request is a bit different this time: for peace as he faces these last days, for peace and comfort for my grandma as she embraces this time, and for all those who love him - that we can be there however needed as he prepares to meet his Savior.
An amazing life - that I am so grateful to have been part of. He's been given so many extra moments by fighting for his strength when his body wanted to shut down...and we've shared so many blessings because of that. What a gift.
And my favorite quote from that weekend that we spent together nearly 2 years ago...
Live a good life.
And in the end, it's not the years in the life,
it's the life in the years.
I love you, Grandpa.
