a million little pieces

i'm not an oprah fan. never have been. most likely, never will be.

however, i watched her show today. and it was good. really good.

you know the guy, james frey, who's "memoirs" were touted by oprah's book club, and became an overnight sensation? turns out those memoirs weren't quite so memoir-y, but more fiction. as the smoking gun calls it, his fiction addiction.

the smoking gun blew the cover on his book.

oprah stood by him, saying that everything was true, and in the end, she was proven wrong. i can only imagine how infuriating that was for her. i cannot stand dishonesty. it is beyond a pet peeve of mine. it is one of the few things in life that i can, at times, consider nearly unforgivable.

and she got the chance to do what we all dream about after someone lies to us.

she invited him back to her show, and confronted him about all his lies. haven't you ever wanted to do that? i've been told some whoppers, and while some of those generated some retaliation, i haven't had the chance to take it internationally. i'll admit, that was a good move. and fun to watch.

the transcripts should be available here.

tonight, i'll live vicariously through her. :)
