12 of 12: A Cold Summertime with the Wee Skis Edition

Life with two little Wee Skis. One is two years old, one is two months old.

I love the 12 of 12 -- 12 captures of life from one day.  This is my 23rd edition of the 12 of 12 on this blog...dating back to the original edition here more than 4 years ago in April 2007.  At that time, Jonathan and I had been dating for a month and a half.  He would propose less than 2 months later.

Seriously, time has flown by.

For an interesting comparison, here is Thomas's 12 of 12 when he was the same age as John Paul is now.

8:04 am | The Wee Ski 2.0 sleeps.
I love how peacefully he sleeps.  I moved him up to our bed as I was cleaning up our bedroom.

8:32 am | Banana protein smoothie.
Heavenly.  Ironic that it's served in a Mt. Angel Brewey pint glass!  Thomas loves smoothies, "Mommy?  Smoobys today?"

8:33 am | Toast with tayberry jam.
I heart Johnson Berry Farm.  You want to know the best easy dessert ever?  These brownies topped with raspberry sauce from Johnson Berry Farm.  Tasty delicious.

9:51 am | Flowers.
I love fresh flowers.  They're in the bathroom and on the kitchen table and I LOVE WALKING PAST THEM.

11:10 am | Stuff on my kid: Wee Skis style.
Seriously, how can you not love the gorilla tucked in with the Wee Ski 2.0?  Thomas snuggled up the gorilla to John Paul while he was sleeping.  Little does John Paul know that the gorilla dances and sings "Hot Hot Hot" by Buster Poindexter.  He's in for a rude awakening one of these days!!  And this may be the first photo I have of the Wee Ski 2.0 smiling.  Swoon.

11:11 am | A dancing Thomas.
Dancing to the aforementioned "Hot Hot Hot".

2:48 pm | A quiet break on the deck.
After a three hour work session while both boys are sleeping.  I pulled the laptop out onto the deck, in between the rain sessions.   Even with the rain, it is incredibly beautiful during the summer out here.  Feeling so blessed, especially for a few quiet moments to myself.

3:10 pm | My beloved sage plant.
Clipped off a bunch for sweet potatoes & sage, wrapped in proscuitto for poker night on Monday.  I made a mistake last year and planted dwarf sage, so I'm so glad to have a big, healthy sage plant this year -- no dwarf-sized leaves!

3:35 pm | A Grumpalicious Wee Ski. Post nap.
He still wakes up wanting to be held. I secretly love this, because he never cuddles unless he's sick.  He's always ALL OVER THE PLACE.  So I'm soaking up his wish to be held for as long as he'll let me.  Unless, of course, I need to feed his brother, and I get this face complete with tears.

3:36 pm | A bonus image entitled, "Oh, the agony."

3:44 pm | One of my favorite images of the boys.
Taken after nursing and the Wee Ski 1.0 calmed down.  Oh BlackBerry how I hate you for not letting me save this image, so I took a photo of the phone with my camera.  Next best thing.

4:15 pm | Chalking it up.
With his easter chalks and a special 'big brother' big box of chalk from his cousin Avila.

6:10 pm | Chicken nachos.
One of Jonathan's favorite meals right now, and incredibly easy.  Tostitos scoops, chicken from the rotisserie chicken from Costco, white beans, pico de gallo salsa and Mexican cheese baked to melting.

I think I may have mentioned this in one of your earlier 12s... you have such a beautiful family. The Wee Skis are adorable!

I know what I'm making for dinner tonight, too... thanks for the suggestion! :)
