Just after my birthday, we hosted our first post-baby-number-two dinner party.
It coincided with the 34th anniversary of the day I went home with my first adoptive family...except this time, they came home to MY house! We had a casual BBQ and everyone got to meet each other. If you missed it, the original story is here. There were walks in the fields, lots of stories told, and a great deal of laughter. A good family time all around.
From left to right -- me, mom, Linda and Dodi.
Jonathan met my first adoptive mom's family. Below is my fam, with Dodi's son Brett and Linda's husband, Craig. John Paul is chilling in Craig's arms. Jonathan is behind the camera. :)
Brett and Thomas were fast friends, with bug catching and wheelbarrow rides and scouting out chicken eggs.
I loved seeing them together after only seeing pics on Facebook.
One of the things I love the most is that even though we had been family for a short time of a few days after my birth, they are people that I would love to hang out with had our past experiences never led our paths to cross.
I adore Linda's blog (Bellamere Cottage) -- with D-I-Y projects and actual tutorials on it!! Dodi and I have 101 things in common, and she would not only make an awesome older sister, but a great friend as well.
It still amazes me that we lived just half a mile apart for 7+ years and never knew it. But I am truly grateful that God's given us the chance to get to know one another, albeit 34 years later! Here's to the next 34 years! :)
