The Relay is just 10 days away...
This year's event in Thurston County has a "Picture a Cure" / Hollywood theme...so we chose "Field of Dreams" for our movie theme. Jim Connolly, for whom we are Relaying this year, is a huge baseball fan and has actually been to the Field of Dreams in Iowa. We're in the midst of last minute tent site design stuff + logistics for a midnight movie of Field of Dreams. Our sweet surprise for Jim just shipped via UPS (thank you, Finian Road!) and our team jerseys are at print right now.
I was looking back through our wedding advice/guest book from our wedding, and found Jim's card to us:
"For my daughter's wedding, my toast was a baseball theme from Field of Dreams.
My same to you -- "Go the distance!"
My same to you -- "Go the distance!"
So...we are. We're going the distance.
We're inviting everyone we know to come down and experience Relay, especially on the Friday night. Opening ceremonies begin at 6 pm, with the survivor lap immediately following. We'll be pulling together everyone from CTM for the caregiver lap that follows -- but we've retitled it the Connolly's Crew Lap. So much fun to celebrate Jim and show our support of him and his family. If you are in the area, we'd love for you to join us. Here's a helpful guide to the day of the event if you want to be part of Connolly's Crew. :)
It's the first time (ever) that Thurston has had a true luminaria ceremony (thanks in big part to the Sticklands!!) and we are SO excited to see how it goes.
Our team is at $33,239.91 -- at 89% of our $37,500 goal. We're almost there! If you have a few extra bucks burning a hole in your pocket, you are welcome to donate them through our team! :) Here's the link! A heartfelt thank you to everyone who has donated so far. We so appreciate it!
And finally, here's a link to our promo invite for our team this year. Click the button below to view it...just takes a minute or two! :)
