Sweet baby elixir

...in the form of a surprise visit to Grandma.

Mom is OK. Not good. Not terrible. Not getting better.

Below, she is getting an x-ray to double check the placement of the PICC line.

Yesterday, she had a PICC line put into her upper right arm. They changed her antibiotics to the strongest stuff they have, necessitating the PICC line. It was fascinating to watch, but even better knowing that this could hopefully help her body recover and eventually, we would see her white blood cell count fall.

Today is not our lucky day. It rose from 20,000 to 21,100 overnight.

She said today, "I don't want to go home. I'm not well enough to be out of here."

That was a big statement.

You don't realize how you take your health for granted, until you don't have it.

Tomorrow will most likely have a visit from a lung specialist, to run a bronchoscopy. We're searching for answers right now. And there don't seem to be many. Mom remains on oxygen and the breathing machine to help her get stronger.

Please pray for her docs and for a quick diagnosis.

And for a happy birthday for her next Monday. I'm going to pull together a special project for her (in an upcoming blog post) and would love your help, since she will most likely be turning 62 in the hospital. ♥

And that would not be my favorite place to celebrate a birthday.

Oh, Shelley. I am so sorry. My heart is with you. What a rough start to 2010. But, I am confident it only gets better from here. Please know you are loved. You, your mom and your family are in our thoughts and prayers. What a great photo you snapped of your mom and Thomas, though. I love it.

Hey Sweetie - I am so sorry for the unanswered questions, and worries....but I feel a peace. God is here, and your strength and ideas for the upcoming days (and her b-day) will be bright lights as they figure out what is wrong. I know God has a plan. We're all praying hard! Her smile is so warm and radiating...I can tell her spirit is stronger than any assault on her health.

We love you all! Many prayers!
