Today is the last Sunday of the liturgical year, the feast of the Solemnity of Christ the King. The Season of Advent begins next Sunday. A new year.
Advent is for preparing for the coming of the Lord's birth. It's so hard to believe that at this time last year, I was eight months pregnant. Soon to be homebound in the crazy snowy weather that hit the northwest.
This year couldn't be more different.
There's a great December Daily project coming up for readers of Ali Edwards' blog. I knew that I wanted something that gave me the chance to document our first Christmas as a growing family. I want to have something tangible that I can print at the end of the season, to be stashed away with our Christmas goodies, only to be pulled out next year to look back over. With how much I love this whole season, I decided to focus on our family's first Advent (the four weeks leading up to Christmas).
And our family's first Advent Daily scrapbook was born.
To capture a little glimpse of each day of the Advent season. To remember the thoughts and feelings and emotions.
To make it easy, I'm using a template from Cathy Zielske, from the Message to My Boy Layered Template Set. I designed the title page and wrote the dedication last night. (There's more about the template and how it works here)
I also picked up the Joulunaika Collection digital kit from Katie Pertiet at Designer Digitals, using primarily the papers to keep the book coordinated throughout. I wanted red + green, but not crazy-over-the-top-red-and-green. It's a great balance of muted colors and simple designs.
I plan to print the pages into 8x8 prints and slide it into a scrapbook, or have it printed and bound together. But for now, I needed the groundwork laid and a simple set up so it wouldn't get overwhelming.
Digging out the Advent Wreath this week. Ordered two devotionals for the season - one for Jonathan and me, and one for the Wee Ski. Everything to come together just after Thanksgiving. Stay tuned...

What devotionals are you getting for the Wee Ski? That's such a beautiful scrapbook that you're making!!!
I like the idea of an Advent scrapbook - I've been looking for ideas other than the usual Advent calendar.
Also, who do you print your digital 12x12 pages out through? I think they look so much more professional than the regular scrapbooking that I do.
