Tree hunting: Sprouffske style

Thanksgiving morning...the sun rising above Mt. Rainier and what's left of the douglas firs off our deck...and this is my ideal life on the farm. :)

From my favorite Christmas movie...
We're kicking off our fun old fashion family Christmas by heading out into the country in the old front-wheel drive sleigh to embrace the frosty majesty of the winter landscape and select that most important of Christmas symbols.

So Jonathan Griswold and I headed out into the fields at the break of day this morning, in our four-wheel drive sleigh, ready to hunt for our Christmas trees. The task? A big tree for the living room...a little tree for the kitchen. The big tree will be a combo of my traditional gold/white theme, accented by Jonathan's ornaments. The little tree will be a Seahawks theme, to send them good ju-ju as they finish up the season.

Meet my fearless tree ninja. He masquerades as an attorney, but this is where it's at.

This year's tree hunt is brought to you by Toyota, who provided the four-wheel drive sleigh.

It should be noted that being eight months pregnant makes you much less able to make quick decisions. We spent an hour in the fields. Near the end, just before this self-portrait was taken, it was overheard...

"My hands are numb. I'm about ready to throw up, and we're listening to the best of John Tesh at Christmas. It's the closest we'll get to Christmas hell."

But now, a fresh noble fir and douglas fir are resting happily on the deck. And they'll find their home inside today.

Because that's how we roll.

I'm awaiting the picture of the tree inside the house. :) Decorations is only the next step!

I agree. We have all seen this senario before.... tree hunting, perfect tree on the deck, perfect tree STILL on the deck, again, tree is still on the deck. Oh heck, it's Easter, let's forget about bringing the Christmas tree in, let's just shove it off the deck- no one on the farm will notice. Let's go hunt for the perfect Easter tree.......

One tree inside, in the tree stand. No lights yet or ornaments. One to go.

Hmm...should I post pics before OR after the Shindig this weekend?
