air viper
i don't know why i love the snow so much. maybe it's because we never had snow for longer than a day when i was growing up - living right on henderson bay means that unless it was snowing at sea level...the snow wouldn't come near us.
and now, living out here, it feels like i get snow all the time! i mapped it online, and i'm pretty sure we're at about 450' elevation, with the lower fields around 400'. the other night, jonathan and i had dinner on the deck overlooking the upper tree field. i had mapped a one-mile route to walk the dogs that afternoon, and it was warm(ish) and sunny. the cherry blossom tree was blooming - and it really felt like spring was here. it was so warm that we woke up in the middle of the night to coyotes just outside the house, driving maggie nuts.
until i woke up yesterday morning to an iced over driveway.
and snow today! i was like a little kid (after i chopped wood for kindling, in case the power goes out), running around the fields with the dogs. i know that spring is almost here...so i want to soak up the last bits of snow out here!
and i love to see how excited the dogs get in the snow - maggie is in 7th heaven, and viper doesn't know just what to do. she hops around like a bunny.
on our succulent planter that we picked up at the rainier education foundation auction last weekend...
viper's elvis fleece, as she ran back from the well...
the snow on the lower fields, where the almost-grown grand firs grow...
on the baby grands in the upper field...
and a little winter and spring together...
