...the volunteer spotlight

from april 16 through may 22, merrill lynch is launching it's first ever volunteer awareness campaign. it highlights the firm's global philanthropy and how merrill colleagues make a difference in communities around the world. each day throughout the campaign, they are highlighting a merrill lynch volunteer who lives by the principle of responsible citizenship.

i've been reading through the spotlights each day - from merrill volunteers around the world: mexico city, london, japan, hong kong, brazil, montreal, singapore, new york and india...and now... tacoma!

seriously, after seeing all that they have done, i am honored and humbled to be considered among this group. i feel so blessed to be part of a firm that gives back so significantly to the communities it serves. we truly are an essential partner. :)

the spotlight:

Shelley M. Mauss
senior investment advisor, GPC
Tacoma, Washington
Running With The Bulls and Employee Giving Campaign

Ms. Mauss believes strongly in the mission of the American Cancer Society: eliminating cancer as a major health problem.

Through Relay for Life, she has witnessed firsthand lives changed, treatments found and hope restored.

"I've seen it on the local level from the two years I chaired the event, raising $1.6 million during my term, nationally through our team involvement in Relay For Life as a top nationwide team and the Merrill Lynch Employee Giving Campaign, and internationally when I was invited to speak in Europe on behalf of the American Cancer Society in Fall 2006, advancing the global mission of the Society," she said.

that said...there's a very good chance that you may be receiving an email from me about supporting the american cancer society.

we've got just 3 weeks until the relay kicks off on my 30th birthday! seriously, who needs birthday presents when we can find the cure for cancer? :)
