Scenes from the First Grade

Sometimes, only a road trip will do to celebrate a birthday. A road trip with white and brown cakes, singing candles that happen to break en route, a classroom full of first graders, a crazy filipino dish made of pigs ears, and the world's largest balloon that fits in the BMW. Becky's beginning her first year teaching at Star of the Sea in Bremerton, and she's rocking the first grade. Her wee munchkins got to play 20 questions with Michael G, Rachael and me...what do they really want to know about your life?

  • Do you have kids?
  • Do you have an animal?
  • Do you play with it?
  • When did you meet Miss Jordan?
  • And just for Michael G...are you married?
I love her classroom. It's just so Becky. There's a box of rosaries, Our Lady of Guadalupe, tons of affirmations and happy thoughts, a wall of self-portraits by the kids (which I LOVED), and my favorite book, You Are Special. The book that I probably own a dozen copies of. A few of my favorite shots from today...

Happy birthday, sunshine!
