On the coast
The last week was full. When Jonathan asked about clamming on the last day of the season, I realized it was just what we all needed. Time to play together. I had never been clamming before and neither had the Wee Skis. So early yesterday morning, we rolled out of bed, packed up and headed to the Washington coast.
We met up with Chuck at Jonathan's office at 5:30 am, and we were on the road. The boys and I slept most of the way.
It was a perfect day for razor clamming. As the sun rose, it was a little over 50° and the clams were everywhere. We hit our limits quickly -- and we were back in Olympia by 9:30 am!
But back to the beach. Thomas was in heaven chasing the seagulls and hunting clams with us.
There were just a few hundred people on the beach when we arrived, and we had tons of beach to comb.
Chuck, with his sweet PVC clam gun, just as the sun was rising.
Thomas even got into it once he realized they couldn't pinch him like crabs. :)
Our wee clam hunter.
This is what I like to refer to as my "dead sexy" pose. :) NOTHING IN CLAMMING IS ATTRACTIVE. One of the things I loved was watching the moisture in the sand get pulled up into the clam gun when you pulled it out of the ground.
Look how dry the sand got!
My first razor clam!
I love this series of Thomas and Jonathan.
That is a face of pure excitement.
"Is there a clam, Papa?"
Cleaning up and heading back...John Paul got to hang with his Uncle Chuck.
And one of my faves.

FUN!!!
Our next door neighbor's were clamming - hit their limits Saturday/Sunday, then only got three yesterday....Charlie LOVED seeing what they looked like!
Beautiful shots!
Hi Dear One.... :-)
Here catching up with the Ski Fam... Loved the pix of clamming......... what a trooper you are to be ANYWHERE at 5:30. So against my inner clock. And, seeing the boys. Adorable. Just adorable.
Thomas's comments were just hilarious. Isn't it funny to see the world through their eyes? I'm always amused.
Sending big hugs.... Miss you. You are so special.
xoxo
