Ten on Tuesday.

  1. This past week has been Nuts with a capital N.
As soon as Relay finished, I headed to pick up dinner for the boys and to take them home to bed.  Jonathan headed out with the team to Inferno's for a pizza & beer celebration.  And on the way INTO Inferno's, he severely sprained his knee.  After spending a few hours in the ER yesterday, he's got a leg brace and is on the mend.
  2. We have amazing friends.
We were so blessed by Chuck and his son Kevin, who brought Jonathan home (because we had both cars already and I couldn't drive him home).  Kevin and Heidi came over shortly thereafter.  Heidi went into super auntie mode, and held John Paul as I got settled in from Relay.  Kevin helped unload the cars so all I had to do was put things away.  And finally last night, Chuck and Chris "invited us out to dinner", but with the circumstances, brought steaks over for the grill and made dinner for us at the house.  I really needed some help with Jonathan's leg immobilized (and therefore, he is immobilized) and I can't thank all of them enough for their help.
  3. Relay was an incredible experience.
For both Jonathan and me, the least stressful Relay we've ever had.  I will admit to starting to cry when I was packing the car up with the boys' stuff and it ended up pouring on me (I could handle a toddler and a newborn at Relay -- but NOT with mud!!).  But the skies dried up and it was a beautiful weekend.  Our team finished the weekend with more than $42,000 raised, and our family is 94% of the way to our $11,000 goal.  We just need $625 more!  (So if you have any cash burning a hole in your pocket and you'd like to support us in the fight against cancer -- we'd love it!  Here's the link!)
  4. Our Relay shirts were a hit.Finian Road designed the "SuperC" logo, and we used it on a big team banner, our tees and on our lap bead signage.  I made a giant batch of lemon white chocolate chip cookies for Jonathan's office last week with little SuperC tags, and burned our 2011 Relay For Life CD with a sweet cover using the SuperC logo.  I love that we had kids' sizes this year.  And you know what?  Our team tent site won 'best tent site' in a year that we didn't go all out. Chalk that up to crazy luck!!
  5. John Paul is growing like mad.
Seriously. Like mad. His face is filling out and our scale at home has him at 11 pounds already.  He's going to be a tough little cookie with Thomas as his older brother.  He is definitely on a growth spurt -- he nursed an entire 75 minutes more on Thursday than the daily average for the previous week.  (I know, I am a nerd)  That's three extra feedings.
  6. I am tired.
It's been a long week.  Tonight is the first time in a week I've been able to sit down in front of the computer and answer emails, download & begin processing images, and have silence in a room I'm in. The past few days have been full of taking care of all three boys, climbing the laundry hill known as Mt. Washmore, and unpacking/putting away.   It's a little surreal to have silence, actually.  I am looking forward to the long weekend and having very little on the schedule.
  7. Can't wait for a Week in the Life.
In less than a month.  So looking forward to capturing a week in our family's life, with a nearly three-month-old and a 2.5 year old.  Time is escaping so quickly and I want to remember how things are RIGHT NOW.
  8. I am loving summer food.
Starting to get back into the swing of things in the kitchen, after John Paul's birth.  In the kitchen right now, we have fresh strawberries, asparagus, broccolini, cucumbers and blueberries.  I can't wait to grill up some of the fish Dad brought back from his fishing trip to Alaska (either salmon or halibut is on the menu for tomorrow night).  I made a tasty delicious garlic/dill/lemon aioli last week for the Copper River salmon we grilled, and I'll probably bring some up tomorrow for dinner in the Harbor.
  9. Thomas is into saying "thank you".
And I LOVE IT.  "Thank you, Mommy."  "Thank you, Papa."  After prompting for what felt like months, he is beginning to say it on his own. And he's a smart little one -- when he wants something, like a peanut butter protein ball, he brings two -- one for me and one for him.  "Please, mommy?  Peanut butter ball?"  Oh yes, sweet child.  You are brilliant and especially good at sharing.  His other favorite phrase right now, "Oh Mommy!"  It is sweet music to my ears.
  10. Did I mention we're 94% of the way to our $11,000 goal?
Just checking.  :)  Here's a sweet little video about our team. You should check it out, if you haven't yet.
