I just finished designing 42 mini pages for Mom's surprise book - sent them off to Costco for printing! Since she's not allowed to have balloons, plants, champagne or flowers, we modified things just a bit and I pulled together my scrappy creativeness. :)
I designed custom pennants that match the ones above, and all the yellow pennants have a big "K" on them. I'll pick them up from Costco tomorrow morning, cut the pennants to size, ribbon them up, and hang them from the different corners of her room. I also designed simple posters in 2 sizes - 12x18 and 8x12 - using the birdies, pennants and balloons. Finally, all the book pages match the colors of the pennants and balloons.
It took about an hour and a half to pull everything from the pennants to the book together in Photoshop - and I love how it turned out. It should all fit within the guidelines that the nurses gave us - and I can't wait to surprise her! She will so love reading through everyone's notes!
I snagged a bottle of sparkling pomegranate cider as well, just in case they let her have that without the champagne. :)

ps--You better be able to take photos of everything..can't wait to hear about your mom's reaction to the surprise!
What a special surprise for your mom. It's so difficult when one of your parents are sick and even more so when they don't have a diagnosis. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you.
