My word for 2010: Family

We're just two weeks into the new year - and there have been a number of good lessons already learned. When Mom was in the hospital, she and I talked a great deal about our "one little word" for the year ahead.

When she arrived home, she chose the word "blessing". There's a neat story in her Caring Bridge journal as to the "why" behind it.

For myself and the Skis, I chose "family".

You can click on the photo to enlarge the page and read the journaling.

For the specs, I adapted Cathy Zielske's Template No. 38 to fit a 12x12 page from the original 8.5x11 design. I removed a few of the overlay lines and rotated the layout. The colors were pulled from Thomas's striped shirt, and the fonts are simple: Arial and Amelie. I pulled one of my favorite images from Thomas's one year shoot, with Jonathan throwing him up in the air, and reduced the opacity to 15% to make it a subtle, watermarked image behind the journaling. I'll have this layout printed as a 12x12 photo at Costco, and slide it into our 2009-2010 family scrapbook.
