The Weekend: Suncadia

This weekend, we took our first mini-vacation as a family. We headed across the mountains to Suncadia, in Cle Elum. The color was just beginning to turn, and it was our first fall adventure.

Jonathan spent a good deal of time in CLEs for the Tacoma Pierce County Bar Association...so Thomas and I had some time in the outdoors, in the pool, and catching up on sleep. The Arends were there as well - so Thomas had the chance to play with Max and Michael, and Susan and I caught up in the spa. It was so good to have a little downtime together! Jonathan and Mark both walked away with a bottle of wine after they finished 18 holes and had a great time catching up a bit. Friday night, Gordon Thomas Honeywell, Jonathan's old firm, hosted a social/cocktail hour a few suites down from ours, so it was great for him to see some old faces.

What I loved about this weekend was that everyone's families were there with them. There was a huge "Northern Exposure" themed BBQ dinner last night (my Grandma, a Northern Exposure junkie, would have been in heaven) and there were kids everywhere. Attorneys, spouses, and lots and lots of kids. There were a number of peeps in Northern Exposure-style costumes...so we got the Wee Ski involved. He wore his new horsey costume that he received from his Grandma. He was the cutest wee one outfitted up!

A few shots from the weekend...

One of the trails that Thomas and I hiked early Saturday morning...

Friday night after swimming...it was cold, so we bundled together!

Our little horsey stud...

One of my favorites...

Overlooking the Yakima River...

...another of my favorites.

Near the swim and fitness center, the path back to the Lodge.

My boys.

Climbing up to get to Papa.

Taken by my awesome husband.

It's game day! I think we'll need a rally cap for next weekend.

We stopped for lunch with the Arends at Village Pizza...only to find it still closed. We grabbed a bite at the Roslyn Cafe before getting back on the road again.

And now we're unpacking. Good to go, great to be home. Welcome, fall!
