frolicking in the tulips

easter weekend up at the tulip festival...featuring some of my favorite images from both of our lenses. jonathan and i originally started this out as a competition - because we might be two of the most competitive people in the world. no...we definitely are the two most competitive peeps in the world. but as i've been looking through his shots, i realize i love them because they're his - different from my perspective, from my eye. a great complement to me. and i would rather that than compete.

but first off, some of my favorite random shots...

check out that branding...

i actually entrusted jonathan with 'the beast', my most treasured zoom lens. he still had a bit of trouble determining what it was that he was supposed to focus on...

(for future reference, giant piles of dirt should be photographed with a wide angle)

this is the face he sees when he's making fun of me. i ♥ that.

and me, after he's making fun of me and my navigational skills from our route to the fields...

how can you not want to hug this tree? there are so many captions i could add...but you can just use your imagination. :)

and for my favorites of his shots...i love these. love them.

something i don't have are images of me shooting...and i found a few like this after downloading...

and i was shooting...

my favorite that i took - with the raindrops on the petals...

since jonathan's the more logical of the two of us, here are his equations for the weekend:

  • shelley + map = jonathan lost and frustrated
  • ice cream + overlooking the dock of the bay + sunset = relaxing end to the evening
  • shelley's blackberry + incoming messages at 11 pm = unhappy jonathan
  • shelley + continental breakfast at laconner lodge - shelley's shoes = unhappy other guests who do not appreciate cute feet
  • 43.6 miles from rainier to tacoma + 109 miles from tacoma to la conner channel lodge = a lot of miles on the new transmission that actually goes in reverse
  • three potted plants full of sawdust + back seat of bmw + winding country roads = unhappy shelley + messy backseat
  • jonathan + being well behaved at the tulip fields = a night at the laconner brewing company
  • vacation - 2 fighting dogs = happy couple

from the balcony, overlooking the river :)

You guys are SOOOOO CUTE together! I would like to see what came out the other end of the beast while shooting the dirt pile.

How come Jonathan did not hug the giant tree? Huh?!?!?

You are right, I'm not so much of a tree hugger. However, if anyone is interested I do have a picture of Shelley hugging a Christmas tree. Copies are available by making a $5 donation to my relay page www.acsevents.org/tacomarelay/jsprouffske
