If Canon were a guy, I would take his last name.

My Canon 85mm lens arrived today! Today! One day early! I did the happy dance in strappy heels today in the office, it was a sight to behold.

One of my first shots, of my wee one. This is more of a "portrait" style lens and has no zooming capabilities (meaning if you want the shot to be closer in, you get off your lazy behind and walk towards it). Ironically, being a "portrait" lens, I can't take self-portraits...because the lens is "longer" than my arm's length. So why would I be so excited? The digital e-nerdiness is coming back. The lens has a pretty sweet "blur" to it, and it works really well in low light...and can do some really cool half-blurry / half-focused shots.

The Estrogen Militia barbeque is tonight...I'm thinking there's a good chance Canny the Canonlens will be coming with me!

Post script...if I hadn't spent three hours on I-5, trying to get north to West Seattle, I would have sweet EM photos to post here. There was a huge accident that shut down I-5, and I was one of the lucky people who got to park on the interstate from 6ish to 9ish p.m. (Maybe this is what the peeps in New Orleans felt like trying to evacuate, sitting and waiting, sitting and waiting.) But I did get to catch up with Michael G during my parked time on the 5...so it wasn't time wasted! :)

This is SO COOL. It's SO COOL, SO VERY COOL. And just in case you missed it...it's SO COOL!

Seriously, I like the 1/2 clear 1/2 blurry photo. That is pretty cool. With my luck though, I'd get the wrong part clear and the wrong part blurry!

Can't wait for you to take the family photos for our Christmas cards this year wih Canny the Canonlens!
