Excerpts from his most recent e-mail...
So here is what I have been up to:
I have been working in a place called Kaligat (sp?) in the mornings. This has been amazing, but extremely difficult. It is the original place that Mother Teresa started and is a home for the dying.
I have washed soiled linens, rubbed ointment on every part of a man's body with the worst skin disease I have ever seen, helped clean and dress a stub of a man's arm that was still open, seen 3 dead men, and have been rubbing one that they think will die soon. These men are so sickly looking - their whole bodies are sunken in. It is so hard to explain.
In the afternoon, I have been working with disabled kids that are severe and profound. They are non-verbal and have little to no functioning motor skills. The most challenging thing is feeding them since most need to have their mouths opened for them and food needs to be poured in. Often times they gag and spit it back out all over me. This has been a great test of patience especially since it is hot and I am tired by the afternoon.
Overall, the experience has been incredible thus far. The Lord is showing me things left and right that were so off my scope. I can't wait to share the details when I get home.
